The original recipe comes from allrecipes.com . I needed to make a few tweaks, so here's my take below:
Sloppy Joes
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion
- 1 green bell pepper
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 2 tsp. yellow mustard
- 1 c. ketchup
- 1 T brown sugar
- salt & pepper to taste
2. Stir in remaining ingredients.
3. Simmer for 30 minutes. Serve on your choice of bread or bun. I add cheese to my Sloppy Joe sandwiches. I also had some yummy potato salad on hand, and I had that as a side.

I was just thinking the other day about sloppy joe's.... but I don't have a good recipe for it! I'm definitely going to try this out!
You should've told me... I have a GREAT recipe!
2 lbs ground turkey breast 1/2 c. ketchup
2 Tbsp. Onion Onion 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
1/2 c. chopped celery 1 Tbsp. mustard
1/2 c. chopped green pepper 1/2 tsp. salt or to taste
10.75 oz can tomato soup 1/4 tsp. black pepper
8 oz. can tomato sauce 12 hamburger buns
In a large saucepan coated with cooking spray, cook the first 4 ingredients over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain if necessary. Stir in the next 7 ingredients; transfer to slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours. Serve on buns.
OR to serve it later: Prepare as directed without transferring to slow cooker. Cool completely. Place in a resealable plastic bag; freeze. To serve, thaw completely; place in slow cooker. Cook and serve as directed above
:( I don't know why it smooshed the 6 lines of ingredients together... I took time in making it spaced out and even....LOL you get the point
That sounds yummy, too! :) i don't know why it smooshed them together either, but it's still readable! :)
I always just use the "sloppy joe" seasoning packet and a can of tomato paste and a cup of water mixed in with my ground turkey. If I'm feeling fancy, I will throw in some diced onions. Yours sound fancy :)
Ooo... Looks wonderful! :-)
