Life thoughts...

So many thoughts have been swirling in my head since the results of Tuesday's Presidential election.  There are so many strong feelings on both sides, and I just feel the need to share some things that are on my heart.

If you are happy with the results of this election PRAY.

*Pray for those who are struggling with the results of this election.
*Pray for those who are feeling fearful--whether you feel it's justified or not.  Remember how it feels to be on the losing side of anything.
*Pray for President-elect Donald Trump.  Pray for him to have wisdom and for him to surround himself with advisers who have experience in areas where he is weak.  Pray that he makes decisions that are best for our country's greater good.

If you are unhappy with the results of this election PRAY.

*Pray for peace within your heart.
*Pray for grace to accept the outcome of America's choice.
*Pray  for President-elect Donald Trump.  Pray for him to have wisdom and for him to surround himself with advisers who have experience in areas where he is weak.  Pray that he makes decisions that are best for our country's greater good.

I bet you're wondering if I realized that I repeated myself there on that final point on BOTH sides.

Yes, I do.

I did it on purpose.

The fact of the matter is that Donald Trump has been elected as President of the United States.  That is how the system works.  I'm sure in many of our life times, we have all been on both sides of the outcomes of previous elections.  But we forget that these people are just that....people.  They are human beings.  A President is not perfect just because he is the President.

In the Bible, Jesus himself said "...'love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.'" Matthew 5:44 (NIV)  And frankly, no matter which side of this election you are on, the other side is your "enemy."  In other words, we do not all think the same.  We need to pray for each other as well as for our leaders in office.

I've seen the slogan "Love Trumps Hate" all over Facebook.  And it's absolutely true.  And it applies to both "sides" of this issue.

So pray, pray, and when you think you've prayed enough, pray some more.

"...if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)

This may be one of the best posts I've seen on the topic.
I won't rant political thoughts in your comment section :)
