#Obsessed (aka I love Paul McCartney!!!)

Back at the end of August, I caught a commercial on TV stating that Paul McCartney was coming to play at the Bryce Jordan Center (at Penn State).  I nearly fainted.

If you've been around here for any length of time, you may know that I love the Beatles, and Paul McCartney is my favorite!  I never thought that I would get the chance to see him in concert.

I clearly lost my mind, but I HAD to buy tickets.

This is a once in a life time opportunity.

Tickets were NOT cheap.

But this is a once in a life time opportunity!!!!

The best part is that I am going to the concert with my cousin, and life-long friend, Jaime.  We have both been #obsessed with the Beatles and both love Paul McCartney!

In honor of this momentous occasion (happening on October 15th!), I am going to post some of my MOST favorite Paul McCartney songs!  I will post one a day until the concert!

Enjoy!

P.S. Did you sign up for The 4th Annual Great Pumpkin Swap yet?

Music Monday: My First Song

This Music Monday will be short and sweet.  One of the first songs I can remember actually learning from beginning to end, word for word was the song "Red Rubber Ball" by Cyrkle.  Somewhere in Ohio, there exists a video tape of a three-year-old Becky singing this song.  Since I obviously don't have that, here's their version.

The song was released in 1966.  (And as you know, I LOVE the 60s!!!)  My dad used to have this single on a record.

On the flip side, was their song "Turn Down Day"

I also remember really liking this song.  Apparently, video also exists of me reacting to a sound effect in the song, and saying, "I heard that!" (as if it wasn't supposed to be there).

What songs do you remember from when you were little?

Shufflin'

About a week ago my friend and sponsor, Kristin, did a post about what was playing on her iTunes when she put it on shuffle.

I was in need of inspiration and decided to take a page from her book today!

I started by playing the first song in my library "Across the Universe" by The Beatles.  Here are the 10 that followed:

1. "Like that's a Bad Thing" ~Danny Gokey
2. "Cold Hearted Snake" ~Paula Abdul
3. "Baby's in Black" ~The Beatles
4. "Last Dance" ~Donna Summer
5. "I Second that Emotion" ~Smokey Robinson & the Miracles
6. "Little White Church" ~Little Big Town (LOVE this song!!  In fact, I'll share the video.)

7. "Silly Love Songs" ~Paul McCartney & Wings
8. "I'm Yours" ~Jason Mraz
9. "Sexy and I Know It" ~LMFAO
10. "Ring of Fire" ~Joaquin Phoenix from the Walk the Line Soundtrack

I'd say that's a pretty wide variety of songs there.

What would your first 10 songs be?

Music Monday: The Monkees

I'm pretty sure that I've mentioned before that my musical tastes indicate that I should've been a teenager in the 60s.  What an amazing decade of music!  (Did you see my Top 10 Beatles songs posts?  Part 1 and Part 2)

Another band that I've always loved from this time actually formed because of a TV Show.  The Monkees aired in September 1966 and ran until March 1968.  The show was inspired by The Beatles movie A Hard Day's Night.  The videos I've chosen are from the TV show.

This was the theme song:

I absolutely loved Davy Jones.  He passed away in February of 2012.  :(  My cousin and I got to meet him when he came to our local amusement park for a free summer concert.  We even got kissed on the cheek!!

Here are some of my favorite Monkees songs!

"Last Train to Clarksville" from The Monkees

"(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone" from More of the Monkees

"Pleasant Valley Sunday" from Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn, & Jones Ltd.

"Daydream Believer" from The Birds, The Bees, & The Monkees

"Valleri" from The Birds, The Bees, & The Monkees

This last song was released after the show was off the air.  So the video is not from the show.

"Listen to the Band" from The Monkees Present

Did you ever listen to The Monkees or see the show?  Have a favorite song??
