StitchFix Fix!

Last week, I shared that my latest fix from StitchFix was an epic fail!  Fortunately, when you have a total fix flop, StitchFix will send you your next fix for free.  I wanted to give this another go ASAP, so I quickly scheduled a new fix and it arrived on December 30th.

This time, they got it right!

The first pieces I tried on were these skinny corduroys in a burgundy color (which you can't tell from this photo because the lighting in our bedroom is awful...) and this black top with small white dots.  The blouse also has tabs in the sleeves so I can make it a 3/4 length sleeve if I want.  While I don't think I'll necessary wear these pieces together (though I could), it worked for trying-on purposes at least!

The next pieces was this plaid dress.  Yes, please!  I'm obsessed with plaid, and I've been wanting a plaid dress.  I love this one because it has a drawstring "belt".  So I can pull it tight for a great fit!  I can wear this with leggings or without (I put leggings on for the pic), and it has POCKETS!  Win!

Ignore my face.
I also got this infinity scarf with this fix.  I love it because....umm...scarf!  Would I actually wear it with this shirt (and this is a much better picture of this blouse, if I do say so myself)?  Probably not, but I think I could get away with it if I did....?

There was only one piece in this fix that I didn't like.  This top looks a million times better on the card than it actually does on me.  I was really excited about it until I put it on, but it just didn't fit me correctly.

I actually did keep the entire box though, even though I don't like this top at all.  Why?  It was cheaper for me to buy the whole box with the Buy All 5 discount than it would have been to get the other 4 pieces and send the top back.

So I promptly listed the top on my Vinted account.  If you like this top and think it would work for your body type and style, feel free to hop on over and buy it from me.  lol

I'm very grateful that StitchFix is willing to fix when they totally miss the mark on a fix.  They took my feedback into account, and I think my stylist actually did look at my Pinterest board because this fix was obviously on target.

Ever had a StitchFix redemption?

If you would like to give StitchFix a try, I'd love it if you'd head over using my referral link!  I will get a credit toward my next fix if you do!  :)  https://www.stitchfix.com/referral/3883523

StitchFix Fail

I've written posts here about StitchFix before.  It can really be so much fun to get a box of clothes at your door to try on, keep what you like, and mail back what you don't.

Sometimes, they really hit the nail on the head, and sometimes, it's just a flop.  One time, I loved my entire box, and kept it all (and strangely enough, I didn't blog about that experience)!  More often than not, I only have one or two pieces I like.  Sometimes, I keep at least one piece just to justify the whole experience to myself.  But this time, I just refused!

The first pieces I tried on were a pair of leggings and this high-low t-shirt.  I liked these leggings.  They had a textured strip down the side, but the waistband was weird...I can't really describe it.  I might have kept them any way because....LEGGINGS.  But I could not and WOULD NOT justify paying $64 for a pair of leggings.  ARE THEY INSANE?

As you can see, the top isn't really flattering from the front.  It looks better from the side, but not redeeming enough.  Not only was it not super flattering, but it's just plain gray, really thin, and cost over $40.  Seriously?

The next piece was this pleated top.  No, no, no, and no.  The only thing I liked about this was the dots.  Other than that, it was not flattering, the attached camisole inside was too low, and ugh, just no.

Then there was a dress.  I usually get a dress.  And for some reason, they must think I don't like color because the dresses are always some form of black.  I did like this print, though, and I thought the cut was flattering.  The deal breakers?  The arm hole was cut strangely, and it cost $84.  No thanks.

Finally, they sent me this bag.  It was cute.  While it's not a bag I would typically buy for myself, I actually could imagine using it.  I actually kind of liked that it would be a cross body bag if I wanted, and it had a lot of pockets to carry my things.  Strangely enough, this was also the most inexpensive piece in my fix, and I almost bought it.  BUT I'm not really in the market for a bag.  If I had liked anything else in the fix, I would have kept the bag and the other piece(s), but it was just not worth it!

I contacted StitchFix about how unsatisfied I was.  While they don't refund your $20 styling fee, they WILL cover the fee for your next fix.  So I sealed everything back up in the bag, dropped it in the mail, and scheduled another fix.  I figured since they'll foot the bill, I will give it another go right away!

To Stitch Fix or Not?

I got my first Stitch Fix in July.  The box had pretty great stuff in it, but not everything fit perfectly or was worth the price to me.  I got a top that I did actually love, and I was excited to get my next one in September.

To say that I was disappointed with my second Stitch Fix would be an understatement.

I kind of liked this dress.  It would be great for a night out on the town (which doesn't happen often), but the top was weird.  Out.

I almost liked this dress, too.  With the curved and split front, it was definitely a "not without tights or leggings" dress in terms of school.  And the opening at the top meant I would NEED a cami underneath to wear to work.  Out.

I only threw on this maxi skirt because I obviously needed to be wearing some sort of bottom with the shirt.  The shirt is cute, and I actually ended up buying it.  However, it's a simply jersey-type fabric, and I probably could've found something like it cheaper elsewhere.

I also liked this tank.  It was a pretty print and looked good under my favorite blazer.  I almost kept it.  In fact, I had sealed up my return bag, when I realized that I could NOT justify the price for a tank top.  So I opened my return bag and tossed it in.  Out.

This fix also included earrings, which were ok, but again, not for the price.  I think I changed my profile for them not to send me accessories.  Both of their accessories so far have been fails for me.

I am due for my third Stitch Fix at the end of this month.  I have decided that I'm going to give it one last try.  The process IS pretty fun.  I like getting a box of stuff to try on, but most of the things cost WAY more than I would EVER pay for something at a store unless I absolutely loved it.  I got something from this one simply because I would've been out $20 if I didn't.

If they don't step it up this month, I'm out.

Has anyone out there had success with Stitch Fix?

I Love Clothes

By no means do I consider myself a fashion blogger.  I have done the occasional outfit post or talked about things I love, and I'm good with that.

Not long ago, Chantal from Scattered Seashells, posted about Stitch Fix.  As soon as I was done reading her post, I immediately went over to the Stitch Fix website to fill out my style profile!

In case you don't know (because I didn't), this is how Stitch Fix works.  You fill out your style profile that includes information about your body (height, weight, sizes) and style preferences.  You can also link up a Pinterest board that reflects your style.  Each month, you pay $20, and your personal stylist selects 5 pieces to be sent to you.  You try everything on, and buy whatever you want.  If you buy all 5 pieces, you get a 25% discount.  Whatever you don't want, you toss in the pre-paid shipping bag, and put it in the mail.  The $20 you've already paid is deducted from the cost of any of the items you purchase.

You can select to have your Fixes shipped as often as every 2-3 weeks, once a month, or every other month.  As much as I would love to have a new box every month, I didn't want to go over board, so I've opted for bi-monthly.

My fix came with an envelope that contained directions for the process, a note from my stylist, a list of all the pieces with the prices for each one (and the total for choosing them all), and styling cards for each of the pieces included in the Fix.

This the blouse I ended up choosing.  The styling card has great suggestions for how to dress it up or dress it down.

Here's how I wore it for a day of outlet shopping with my friend Kim.  It is a tad low in the front, which I would wear for a night on the town, but for day, it needed a tank underneath.  I wore black flip flops, and my new bracelet from Ashley Bridget.

I really did like almost all of the pieces in my first fix.  The only thing I didn't like was a faux pearl bracelet.  (Pearls are just not my thing.)  There was a sheath dress that would have been perfect if not for the horizontal stripes.  The other dress bloused on top and didn't look quite right on me, and I really loved the other top that they selected for me, too.  It was a white, casual, light-weight, 3/4 sleeve sweater, but I could get something similar for much less in price.

My next Fix is scheduled to ship on September 5th, and I'm so excited!

Do you want to get in on the action??  You can!  And you can help me get credit toward clothes when you get your first fix.  Just click here to use my referral link!

Anyone else out there tried Stitch Fix already?  What did you think?
