My Harry Potter Fix: Week 36

So before I begin, I want to share some sad news.  My Harry Potter Fix will no longer be occurring as a link up.  Kim has decided to make her blog private for reasons pending on her future career as a lawyer.  I'm so sad to see her going from the blogging world, but I completely understand her reasons, and I'm behind her 100%!

I am going to continue posting for the next few weeks for a few reasons:
1. I need things to write about.  ;)f
2. I want to finish the "would you rather questions".
3. I want to discuss my likes and dislikes of the last two books of the series.

If you want to post about those remaining topics with me, feel free to share the link to your post in the comments.
Would you rather...

...fight the basilisk or a dementor?  Snakes FREAK ME OUT.  Ever since I had to hold a python at an assembly in front of the students, it's even worse.  SO extra large snakes would totally not be on my list of things to take on.  I'd absolutely pick the dementor because Patronuses are cool.  :)

via
...spend a weekend with Dudley Dursley or Kreacher the House Elf? While Dudley is nothing more than an oversized bully, I would pick Kreacher simply because if I were with him, I'd be in the magical world.

via
...be a Quidditch Keeper or Beater? I honestly don't know....I was never good at sports, so I'd probably be bad at both.  BUT I think I'll pick Beater just because you'd get to participate in more of the action!

via
...receive a Howler in front of your friend or eat a vomit flavored Every Flavored Bean?  Embarrassing though it might be, I'm totally picking the Howler here.  Sure, the vomit flavored bean might be over and done with quickly, but since I hate anything and everything associated with being sick, I can't choose it.  IN fact, the act of eating said bean might cause actual vomiting to occur.  I'll pass.

via
...have Severus Snape as your father or Delores Umbridge as your mother? SNAPE, SNAPE, SNAPE, A MILLION TIMES, SNAPE!!  That one was too easy.  Yes, Snape isn't so nice to Harry.  Yes, he makes you mad over and over again in the books and movies, but ultimately, we know that he was truly good and had the capacity to love.  I would have deep pity for any spawn from that evil woman!

Again, this will no longer be an official link-up, but please feel free to share your thoughts (or the link to your post) in the comments! :)

My Harry Potter Fix: Week 35

I'm so excited for another round of "would you rather" questions this week, but before I get to my thoughts, please remember a few things:

1. Follow Kim, Tarole, and me.
2. Post about Harry Potter and link up below.
3. Share the love via Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and whatever other social media you love!
4. Visit the other blogs to check out their answers.

So here we go!

Would you rather.....

....be a werewolf like Remus Lupin or a ghost like Nearly Headless Nick? While there's something to be said for flying through walls, I'd have to go with the werewolf.  Of course there are some pretty serious drawbacks, but at least when you're not being disfigured by the moon, you can enjoy things....like food.

via
...have Hagrid or Dobby as a friend?  Oh wow.  This is a really difficult one for me.  I LOVE Dobby.  I think I would have to pick Hagrid, though.  Dobby tends to cause more trouble when he's trying to help.  Hagrid would probably be better at getting me OUT of trouble than creating more for me.

via
...spend an afternoon at the Burrow with the Weasleys or in Diagon Alley?  I do love the Weasleys, but assuming that they'd probably be with me, I'm going to go with Diagon Alley.  Sure, it would be cool to stay at the Burrow for a visit, but oh, the things there are to see and do in Diagon Alley!  :)

via
...play Quidditch or Wizard's Chess?  I have to go with Quidditch here.  I'm sure chess would be much more exciting in the Wizarding World, but Quidditch is definitely the most exciting of the two.  I doubt I'd be any good, but it would be fun!

via
...have a pet Hippogriff or a Phoenix?  Hippogriffs are rather large and would probably be a bit inconvenient as a pet.  So even though Buckbeak is cool, a Phoenix is WAY more awesome in my opinion!

My Harry Potter Fix: Week 33

It's another week, and it's time for My Harry Potter Fix!  This week, we're doing some more "would you rather" questions, but before I share my answers, please remember the following:

1. Follow Kim, Tarole, and me!
2. Post about Harry Potter, and link up with us below!
3. Spread your love of HP by sharing your post on Twitter, Facebook, etc!
4. Visit other blogs to see their answers.

So here are my answers to this week's "would you rather" questions:

1. Have an Invisibility Cloak or a Time-Turner? This is a hard choice for me.  In our "My Harry Potter Fix" about The Prisoner of Azkaban, I mentioned how much I love the subject of time travel.  I have also imagined just what it would be like to walk out of a room and then be able to reenter without anyone knowing to see what is said when you're gone.  lol  But ultimately, I just don't think I can pass on the Time-Turner.  I am too fascinated with history to say no to time traveling!

2. Spend an hour talking with J.K. Rowling or with Daniel Radcliffe? Definitely J.K. Rowling.  While Daniel Radcliffe is a wonderful actor, and clearly plays a major role in the Harry Potter films, J.K. Rowling is the brains behind this entire magical world!  I would love to talk to her about how she developed the stories, more of the background information she has on characters and things she created.  It would simply be amazing.  Daniel would be like, "Well...I played Harry Potter."  ;)

3. Have a flying broomstick or an enchanted flying car? Broomstick.  As far as magical travel methods, for an object, this would be the least conspicuous.

4. Spend a week lost in the Forbidden Forest a day in Azkaban? As scary as it would be, I think I would take the 24 hours in Azkaban.  Kim made an excellent point in her post: the dementors won't kill you or perform the kiss after only one day.  At least you know what you're facing in Azkaban.  The Forbidden Forest holds so many scary creatures that are looking to kills you.  I wouldn't last ONE day in there, let alone a whole week!

5. Change the story so that Dumbledore does not get killed or so that Sirius does not get killed? Even though it was sad when Dumbledore dies, I believe that it was truly important and essential to the story.  We also learn that because of the curse from the Horcrux Ring, he would've died relatively soon anyway.  So I have to say I would rather that Sirius didn't die.  Poor Harry already had lost so much and had so little going for him.  I desperately wanted Sirius' name to be cleared and Harry to live with him.  Even if the story had him die at the end like Remus and many other important characters, I would've liked him to be around for longer than he was!

So what are your thoughts?  Do we agree?  Do we disagree?

My Harry Potter Fix: Week 31

We're baaaaack!  :)

The weekly link up that I host with Kim and Tarole is back after our summer hiatus!  Join us by answering some "would you rather" questions.  You have until Sunday at 11:59 PM to link up your post.  Remember to follow your hosts and to post about Harry Potter!  :)

Would you rather....
1. Have Ron or Hermione as a friend? I would go with Hermione here.  I was always more inclined to be friends with girls when I was in school, and I think she and I are a lot alike!
2. Be sorted into Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff? Ravenclaw...I don't know that I'm quite smart enough to be in that house, but I always worked hard, was studious, and got good grades.  Besides, it sounds cooler than "Hufflepuff".
3. Attend the Yule Ball or the Quidditch World Cup? Thinking of myself when I was in school, I would've picked the Yule Ball.  I didn't like or care about sports then.
4. Take a class in potions or in caring for magical creatures? Most animals scare me, and magical ones are even worse.  So I'm going with potions.
5. Be a teacher at Hogwarts or Be an Auror? Naturally, I'd be a teacher.  I'm not brave enough to be an auror.  And teaching is sort of what I do.  :)

I can't wait to read all of your choices!  Link up below!
